Given enough interest, there will be an optional, day-long crystallography review on Monday, June 24 (Ogle Hall, Rm. 253). Participants attending the review can expect to have a $35 charge added to their registration fee. Continental breakfast, lunch and coffee breaks will be provided to participants attending the review.
For those who wish, the organizing committee will be making accommodation arrangements at Ogle Hall, the newly-renovated CLS Guesthouse. Just a short 5-minute walk from the CLS, Ogle Hall offers comfortable and convenient lodging. More information about rooms and facilities is available here.
Ogle Hall is situated next to part of the Meewasin Trail. This trail system runs through the city along both sides of the river valley, and is commonly used by Saskatonians for walking, hiking, running and biking.
June weather in Saskatoon is generally very pleasant, with average historical highs around 23 ºC and average lows of 9 ºC. Saskatchewan weather can be hard to predict; nights can be cool and sudden thunderstorms are common. Check the Saskatoon weather forecast while packing to come to Saskatoon.
For participants arriving at the Saskatoon John G. Diefenbaker International Airport, transportation to CLS and Ogle Hall, on the U of S campus, is most conveniently accomplished by taxi. Cab fare from the airport to Ogle Hall is approximately $20.
Saskatoon Transit provides bus service throughout the city of Saskatoon. One-way bus fare is $3 (exact change only if using cash). Tickets can also be purchased at the downtown terminal or on campus at a lower rate (Circle-K store in Place Riel - Lower Level). Routes and schedules can be found here. Your route can be planned using Google Maps. If paying with change, remember to ask for transfers upon boarding.
For those with a car, several pay lots are available on campus. Please visit the University of Saskatchewan Parking and Transportation Services website for more information about public parking. Lot 4 is the nearest to the CLS. For those staying at Ogle Hall only, there is a limited amount of parking that we can arrange for you at a small fee.
If you are sending samples, please review the instructions on our Samples & Automounters page and Shipping Samples page. We recommend sending samples the week before the School. Note that all samples will need to be in Uni-Pucks or cassette. If you do not have Uni-Pucks or a cassette, you will have an opportunity to transfer samples from canes into CMCF Uni-Pucks during the school. Please be sure to bring an adequate data storage device to save your data. Information on data transfer and backup at the CMCF can be found here.
Join us on Tuesday evening (June 25) for a mixer in the Ogle Hall lounge. This is a great opportunity to meet fellow participants, instructors and beamline staff. Your meal this evening is included in the price of registration.
On Friday evening (June 28), participants are invited to our banquet at Marquis Hall, at the heart of the University of Saskatchewan campus. This event is also included in your registration.
