Protein O-fucosyltransferase 1 (POFUT1) fucosylates cell-surface and secreted glycoproteins including Notch, which is critical during cellular development. Aberrations in this pathway may be linked to generalized Dowling-Degos disease. POFUT1 may also be a novel therapeutic target for cardiac disease and cancer.
